OTTUMWA – Today, Iowa Republican Rep. Joe Mitchell announced his endorsement of Mariannette Miller-Meeks for Congress in the 2nd District.

“In the legislature, I’ve witnessed Senator Miller-Meeks lead the charge on conservative issues. She has successfully fought to reform healthcare, protect innocent life and hold government bureaucrats accountable,” said Rep. Mitchell of Mount Pleasant. “Throughout her life, she has never quit fighting for the people of Iowa and the American dream. I want a fighter and a person who never quits representing me in Congress and that’s why I’m proud to support Mariannette for Congress!”

“I am honored to receive the support and endorsement of Rep. Joe Mitchell,” said Miller-Meeks. “Being the youngest serving legislator in Iowa, Joe has shown his energy and passion for serving Iowans. As a Congresswoman, I’ll take that same energy and passion to Washington, D.C. to fight for healthcare reform, higher take home pay, and a government that is accountable.”

Rep. Mitchell was elected to office in 2018 as the youngest serving Iowa lawmaker. He recently graduated from Drake University shortly before serving in the Iowa legislature. In the House, Mitchell worked alongside Miller-Meeks to improve mental health accessibility and ensure Iowa’s Medicaid system remains sustainable into the future.
