MILLER-MEEKS HAILS FIRST PHASE OF U.S.- CHINA TRADE AGREEMENT

OTTUMWA – Iowa 2nd Congressional District candidate Mariannette Miller-Meeks, a Republican state senator from Ottumwa, issued the following statement about today’s signing of the historic U.S.-China trade agreement:

“President Trump has demonstrated a commitment unlike any of his predecessors to stand up for America’s farmers, manufacturers and economy by demanding a fair trade agreement that holds China accountable. His resolve will benefit the U.S. economy in 2020 and it is especially welcome news for soybean, pork and beef producers in Iowa and other states. China’s commitment to increase purchases of soybeans, pork and other U.S. farm products by $32 billion and manufactured products by $80 billion will have a direct, positive impact on the Iowa economy this year and beyond. The phase one deal sets the stage for future agreements that are certain to benefit our nation, state and local economies.”
