MILLER-MEEKS COMMENDS SIGNING OF USMCA BY PRESIDENT TRUMP

WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 29, 2020

OTTUMWA, Iowa – Mariannette Miller-Meeks, a Republican running for Congress in Iowa’s 2nd District and a state senator from Ottumwa, released the following statement today about the signing into law of the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA) by President Trump:

“After the do-nothing Democrats stalled on the passage of the USMCA for nearly a year, the historic free trade agreement was finally signed into law today by President Trump,” said Miller-Meeks. “This is no doubt a win for the American people and especially Iowans. Not only will it benefit Iowa farmers and producers by opening trade paths for egg and dairy exports to be sold in Canada, but it will also create well over 180,000 American jobs and further strengthen the already thriving economy. I praise the president and his administration for their continued commitment to fair and just trade agreements. I am excited for the opportunities that the agreement will bring to the 2nd Congressional District”
